1K a year PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assess the medical need of and provide medical care to employees as required within scope of practice.
Maintain Federal, State, and company recordkeeping for OSHA and Workers' Compensation.
Review medical histories and complete post-offer physicals and other required forms.
Assist with cost management.
Complete other tasks in compliance with company policies and need.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Review post offer medical history information with employee, assess any concerns and make recommendations for referral or restrictions as deemed appropriate.
Administer nursing care for work-related and non-work related injuries and illnesses following appropriate occupational health nursing guidelines, algorithms, and medical directives; refer cases to physicians as appropriate and indicated.
Assist with medical cost management of plant through early intervention in care of employees and providing on-going and follow up nursing care.
Frequent communication required with workers compensation adjuster, case managers and providers involved with provision of care to injured employees.
Complete electronic recordkeeping for employees, documenting care and interactions.
Maintain OSHA recordkeeping.
Support safety function at locations.
Develop wellness initiatives and programs that align with company goals and direction.
Administer first aid and emergency care per medical directives or protocols.
Support ergonomic and safety initiatives including Ergonomic Job Measurement System and Behavioral Based Safety Program.
Manage respiratory protection, first responder and blood borne pathogen programs for employees.
Conduct new hire orientation related to safety/medical.
Administer drug and alcohol screens per company policies.
Advise, coach and educate employees on preventative health and wellness.
Provide leadership in recognizing and preventing workplace hazards.
Promote a safe work environment and serve as a member of Safety Steering Committee.
Maintain adequate medical supplies for the facility.
Enter medical supply purchase requests into purchasing management software or other approved method Assist with accident investigations.
Communicate with medical, legal and insurance personnel.
Represent site in litigation proceedings for workers compensation.
Other responsibilities as assigned by management and site leadership.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Licensed Practical Nurse with current, active, and unrestricted state license.

year's relevant experience in nursing.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Registered Nurse with current/active state license.
Occupational Health experience and/or COHN certification.
Bilingual - English/Spanish proficiency.
Familiarity with OSHA standards and record keeping requirements.
Workers' Compensation administration and case management within a plant environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
Frequent walking within plant environment (cold, damp, noisy).
Frequently stoops, kneels, and crawls.
Occasionally lifts up to 40 lbs.
